Shaykh Mohammed Khalfan Visits IIPS

The Islamic Institute for Postgraduate Studies (IIPS) in Damascus, which delivers the educational side of the Muballigheen Training Programme (MTP), is committed to a continuous process of evaluation and improvement to reach utmost standards of excellence in education. Recently, the IIPS received a visit from Shaykh Mohammed Khalfan of Kenya,  a senior graduate of the Hawza Ilmiyya of Qum. Shaykh Mohammed currently resides in Qum and is working on a range of research-based projects.

As part of the IIPS drive towards excellence, Shaykh Khalfan was asked by Team MTP to review the lesson plans of the IIPS 2nd and 3rd year curricula, and to advise Team MTP on the following:

1. Whether, and to what extent, are the lessons being taught by the teaching personnel accurately based on the syllabus that was devised by the Education Committee as outlined on the Institute’s Four Year Study Programme.

2. Whether, and to what extent, the lessons reflect the spirit of the recommended books as devised by the Education Committee.  Shaykh Khalfan was also requested to evaluate the times and duration of the
lessons in being able to competently deliver the syllabus. His report will inshallah be submitted within the next month and will contain valuable insights and information for the IIPS to be able to build upon.

Al Hajj Jaffer bhai Dharamsi commented, "I am truly grateful to Shaykh Mohammed for sparing time to visit the Institute. His experience and background makes him ideally suited to take on this task. I look forward to seeing his report and pray to Allah (swt) to grant us the opportunity of making IIPS even better. I would like to once again extend an invitation to our worldwide community to visit us in Damascus and assist us in recruiting students for this vital programme."
