| The Traditional Link of the Community to the Ulema |
As the very first classes of the MTP in the proximity of Sayyida Zaynab commence, I can not but help but reflect on the close connection between
the Ulema and the Khoja Shia Itnaasheri Community over the last 150
years. Beginning from the guidance of the Grand Ayatullah Zainul Abedin Mazandaraani in the middle of the ninteenth century, so ably implemented in person by Mulla Qadir Husein Karbalai, the Khoja Community has always been blessed by the close interaction between the Ulama and the mumineen. Across five continents, the positive impact of the religious scholars and muballighs has made the Community what it is today. Our history is a witness to the fact that, of such muballighs and scholars who were most effective, were those who understood the Community's contemporary challenges and addressed them appropriate to the time and era. It is with the same aspiration that the MTP program has been initiated, whereby, graduates from the MTP will be able to fulfil the ever increasing demand for muballlighs and scholars who are able to interact and engage with the new generations, in a manner appropriate to the modern era. While The World Federation continues to facilitate the correct environment and curriculum to nurture such mubalighs, this much needed programme cannot succeed without the support of the community at large. I urge the Community to support this, especially by encouraging more and more students to join the MTP programme. Dr Ahmed Hassam President The World Federation of KSIMC 7 September 2007 |
